Experiencing a Place Called Friendship

Leaves on the ground copy

Without knowing where I was going to end up, I took a walk on October the 14th.  I was letting my mind wander along with my feet.  I realized that there are leaves falling all over Pittsburgh, but the temperature has mostly remained in the 70's.  With weather so moderate, it's hard to believe Halloween is coming.

The Old Houses copy

The houses in my area of the city are huge and built close together, like the one pictured to your left.  Many of these buildings have been turned into apartment complexes.  When I first moved to Pittsburgh nearly eight years ago, I lived in a one bedroom in a similar house.  Although mine was badly painted and the roof leaked over the bathroom.  I could have taken a picture of my old residence, but I thought this place looked much more cheery.

I walked for an hour and a half, watching leaves flutter to the ground, squinting into a setting sun, and appreciating how peaceful a neighborhood within a city can really feel.

Park in the City copy

I've always loved the atmosphere of Pittsburgh.  One minute you're in the middle of rush hour with men in suits rushing past you.  The next minute you are strolling through a tree-lined park called Friendship.

Have you taken a long walk lately?  I throughly enjoyed mine.
