Hot Air Balloon - Travel Reflection

Hot Air Balloon One of the most exciting things I've ever done is go up in a hot air balloon.

On a trip to Arizona, the Travel Boyfriend and I decided that we would get up at four a.m. and pay a couple hundred dollars for the experience of riding in a wicker bucket powered by hot air.

We both couldn't stop talking about the trip afterwards. The panoramic views and the sense of awesome privilege can not be denied when you travel by balloon.  I would go up again in a second.

A few things I remember specifically:

1.  When the flames are heating the balloon air, everyone in the bucket feels a little like a marshmellow near a camp fire.

2.  Drifting a few feet over tree tops is one of the most delightful and peaceful experiences I've ever had.

3.  When you get up high enough, swimming pools can look like casserole dishes full of turquoise water.

4.  Landing is not an exact science.  You can bump and skid across the ground for what feels like a long time.

5.  Drinking Mimosas in the desert is my kind of extreme adventure.
