Whenever I want to see a new place,
I dream of just grabbing my ratty old suitcase.
In that moment, I don't think of unexpected blights.
Gone from my mind are past travel companion fights.
I take out a map to sooth my wandering mood,
then I make plans to try exotic new food.
For me, travel can be on a hometown lane,
Or way across the country on a gorgeous slow train.
Over monuments and fairs and museums I have cooed.
I can't remember one sight I have ever truly booed.
After all these adventures I chase,
until finally I return, happily, to my lovely home base.
